Here is how it works: You have a personal history, a poem, music, a photo, a video, an obituary, or a eulogy, etc. of the deceased that you want to share with others and pass on to your posterity.
That information will be hosted by Stories In Stone and made available to anyone who visits the headstone.
StoriesInStone will provide you with a weatherproof Near Field Communication (NFC) tile or a Quick Response (QR) coded tile to be applied to the headstone or monument.
When the QR Code is scanned or the NFC tile is tapped (for NFC, you must have a NFC enabled smart device), the data will be retrieved and displayed on the smartphone or the display screen of whatever smart device you may have.
If you don’t have one of those devices or if you're in a remote area with no WiFi or cell tower service, you can still retrieve the data by simply taking a photo of the QR Code and scan the photo later when you are in range of a communications signal or a WiFi "hot spot".
You will need to provide a file with the document/media you want displayed.
